Glass tempering furnace uses physical or chemical methods to form a compressive stress layer on the surface of glass and a tensile stress layer inside; when the glass is affected by external forces, the compressive stress layer can offset part of the tensile stress to avoid glass breakage, so as to improve the strength of glass. Not only that, the microcracks on the surface of the glass become more subtle under this kind of pressure stress, but also to a certain extent, improve the strength of the glass.

At present, the commonly used physical toughening method is to heat the glass to the softening point (about 650 ℃), at this time, the glass can still maintain its original shape, but the particles in the glass have a certain migration ability, so as to adjust the structure, so that the internal stress can be eliminated quickly, and then the toughened glass in the glass toughening furnace is blown and quenched. When the temperature is balanced, the pressure stress on the glass surface occurs The tensile stress is produced in the inner layer, that is, the glass produces a uniform and regular distribution of internal stress, which improves the tensile strength of the glass as a brittle material, so that the bending and impact strength of the glass is improved. At the same time, due to the existence of uniform stress inside the glass, once the local part of the glass is broken by the impact beyond its strength, it will explode into small particles under the action of internal stress, which improves its safety. Therefore, toughened glass can also be called prestressed glass or safety glass.

In the process of glass tempering furnace, wind spots and stress spots are generally produced. The wind spots are formed in the process of cooling due to the uneven stress of glass caused by the uneven cooling. When observed from a special angle, the glass surface will show light and dark stripes. The stress spot is also caused by the uneven stress. For example, during the heating process, there is a temperature difference between the side and the middle of the furnace, which results in the uneven stress. At present, there is no way to avoid the stress spot completely, but the well-designed tempering equipment can minimize the visibility of the stress spot.
